Hispanics are Flooding Concealed Carry Classes After El Paso Shooting

According to a report from the Daily Mail, there is an uptick in the number of Hispanics attending concealed carry firearms classes in El Paso.

Many are participating in order to prevent another situation like the one that occurred on August 3, where a madman slaughtered 22 people at a Walmart in El Paso.

Michael McIntyre, the general manager of El Paso’s Gun Central, claims that the store has “seen its sales double in the week following the attack.”

When touching the subject of concealed carry, he stated that “Over 50 [signed up] for this Saturday class and approximately the same amount for the Sunday class.”

According to the gun store general manager, his usual classroom size is usually seven people.

A 35-year-old woman, Guadalupe Segovia, was in attendance after the shooting. She said that her husband has urged her to get a concealed license for some time.

She took the class in order to defend herself, but then added, “I’m still going to be scared, even carrying a weapon.”

Segovia represents a growing number of Hispanics who “are taking to firearms classes in order to become certified to carry a concealed gun in public in Texas.”  Reuters even reported that “the vast majority of people at the classes were Hispanic.”

This case demonstrates that minorities also have an interest in defending themselves. By enacting gun control, it only makes it harder for certain underprivileged groups to defend themselves adequately.
