A homeowner in Rockdale County, Georgia shot at three juvenile assailants shortly after 4 am on September 16, 2019 according to an email statement from Rockdale County Sheriff’s office spokesman, Deputy Lee Thomas.
Thomas said that all three juveniles were from Conyers, Georgia. WSB-TV reports that two of them were brothers.
Deputies were dispatched to a single-story home after they received calls of shots being fired. When they arrived at the scene, they found three young men lying on the ground outside, which Sheriff Eric Levett recounted at the scene.
“Upon our arrival, the deceased was at the edge of a driveway and partially in the roadway,” Levett declared. “The other young man was a little bit down the street, where it appears he was running.”
Deputies gave first aid to him and another teen. Both ended up dying after arriving at a hospital, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The juveniles were reported to have approached the house and tried to rob three people in the front yard, Thomas said. One of the assailants brandished a gun and shot at the residents before the homeowners returned fire, based on the police statement.
The robbery victims were not injured in the shooting attempt. So far, no charges have been filed
“They did discover masks on the young men,” the sheriff said. “That rose our suspicions.”
Levett stated that the homeowner, who has yet to be identified, is in his late 40s to early 50s. WSB-TV reported he is a truck driver.
This represents another case of a successful defensive gun use, which will likely not receive much mainstream media coverage.
For the media, the idea of law-abiding citizens using guns for self-defense seems patently absurd.
