FBI Reports that More People are Killed with Clubs and Hammers than Rifles

The FBI estimates that 443 people were killed with hammers, clubs, or other blunt instruments in 2018.

On the other hand, rifles of every variety killed 297 people.

Breitbart News found similar FBI numbers with regards to fatalities by fists and feet vs. deaths by rifle. Further, the number of people beaten to death with fists and feet was more than double than those who were killed with rifles.

However, Democratic candidates like Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke has made AR-15 confiscation a cornerstone of his political platform. On stage at the Democratic Party debate on September 12, 2019, he declared, “Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15.”

According to estimates from the National Shooting Sports Foundation, there are over 16 million privately owned AR-15s in America. Despite that, FBI numbers point to more people being beaten to death with hammers and clubs as opposed to all types of rifles.

Interestingly, America had an “assault weapons” ban from 1994 to 2004.  However, it had very little effect on curbing gun violence.

While on the books, the Department of Justice’s National Institute of Justice found hat the assault weapons ban had “no discernible reduction in the lethality and injuriousness of gun violence.”
